About Redd House

Redd House LLC operates a Level II recovery residence for men in Richmond's East End, built on one idea: where you live during recovery matters.

Our mission

The mission of Redd House LLC is to provide safe, structured, and recovery-supportive housing to persons in recovery from a substance use disorder, applying Social Model principles and supporting residents who choose to pursue clinical treatment with the licensed provider of their own selection.

Redd House LLC operates a recovery residence for men in Richmond’s East End. It exists for one reason: the stretch of time after detox, treatment, incarceration, or a hard decision made alone is when recovery is most fragile, and where a person lives during that stretch matters as much as anything else.

A recovery residence is not a treatment center and it is not just a room for rent. It is a shared home where the people living in it have agreed to stay substance-free, to look out for one another, and to build the habits that make a life in recovery hold. The structure is there so that the work of recovery has somewhere steady to happen.

The expectations are serious because the stakes are. A man who moves in here is joining a community of peers who are counting on each other, and that community is the most important thing the residence offers.

How we operate

Four commitments a resident can hold us to, including what we will not do.

Peers, not patients

The residence runs on Social Model principles. Residents are participants in their own recovery and in the life of the house. The men who are further along help the men who have just arrived, and everyone has a part in keeping the home what it is.

Your treatment is your choice

Redd House provides housing, not clinical care. Residents who choose to pursue treatment do it with the licensed provider of their own selection. We do not steer anyone to a particular provider, and we do not make residency conditional on using one.

One standard for everyone

Admission criteria and house expectations are written down and applied the same way to every applicant and every resident. You will know what is expected of you before you move in, not after.

Accountable to an outside standard

The residence is accredited by the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences against national standards. That means inspections, documentation, training, and a grievance process that does not end at our front door.

Accreditation

Redd House is accredited by the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR) as a Level II (Monitored) recovery residence. VARR is the Virginia affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) and accredits residences against the NARR standards and the Social Model of recovery.

Accreditation is not a one-time certificate. VARR verifies compliance through documentation, annual onsite inspections, required training, and a process for responding to concerns and grievances.

Disclosure under Va. Code § 37.2-431.1: Redd House's credentialing entity is the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences, and the residence provides the NARR Level II (Monitored) level of support.
